Question Extended Warranties?

If you have been following the RMS issue on PPBB, you have to wonder if going with an extended warranty (for us out of warranty owners) is a good idea. Does anyone have any experience with the various companies (Warranty Direct, Auto Warranty Broker, etc.) out there? They are quoting on average, $2500 for 36 months/36K miles. Mark

Personally, I think it's a bit of a crap shoot . You can spend a lot of money on an extended warranty for something that might happen or spend slightly less for the same thing at one time. The only reason to get an extended warranty (at least IMHO) is to cover the cost of a failed engine.

If you wind up with a small RMS leak just wait until you need a new clutch and then get the RMS replaced at the same time. That way you're only paying the labor to R&R the transmission one time.
