my boxster smells rich

can anyone help.
Just recently my Boxster has started to smell fumey.
It also smells rich (fuel smell) when I first start in the morning.
Is there something I can sort myself or is this a garage problem?

I thought there'd be an anecdote here with some sly comments ...

I'm just guessing, but doesn't the O2 sensor provide the data to regulate the mixture?

The passenger seat of my Boxster smells like Chanel No. 5! Is there a special sensor for that?

Don't mean to insult, but my guess is it's your nose. These cars are very tightly regulated with electronics/sensors. Either one of two things will happen: 1) the ECU will adapt/correct or 2) you will get a check engine light. Beyond that, you could try to see if there are any pending codes with a higher-end OBDII scanner. Beyond that, I would only guess some kind of leak somewhere that the computer doesn't know about.
