You should ask the question on 6Sppedonline or Rennlist
I'd say somewhere in the low $50k, high $40k range

Did so - thanks.

Even talked to Navarro of LN engineering. Yes, I can get the car at a reasonable price, but the IMS WILL FAIL, and I do not want to spend $40K on a time bomb.

What about the IMS recall that Porsche finally did? Will it still be covered if/when it fails?

Less than a 1% failure rate on the third generation IMS. That works out to ~.16% per car/year.

Every car/engine has its weak points. If you were talking a small single row IMS ('00-'05), I'd maybe worry. But this car doesn't have the 8% failure rate part.

Agree with Mike '97 IMS failures are very rare as are any of the 996 Carrera motors. The Boxster class action is over and, since 911 failures were so rare were not included. The suit only covered 2000-2005 Boxsters, '97-99 Boxsters also had a very small % of failures.
