2000 boxster or 2002 boxster

im being offered 2 boxster S, one is year 2000 racing yellow and the other is a green 2002 model. this will be my first porsche if ever (im also being offered a 2004 slk)

both have tiptronic auto transmission, hard top, all leather package and less than 3000miles. both are in mint condition.

the 2000 boxster has 18 inch wheels and CD changer

the 2002 boxster has xenon lights, bose sound system but costs about 10000 USD dollars more. (luxury cars cost twice as much here in manila because of the import tax)

question is which would you choose given the price difference and the 2 year model difference? both cars are practically new. would i have more technical mechanical problems with the 2000 given that it was the first model year of the boxsterS? is fuel economy the same given that the engine is the same (?) . i would like to choose the 2002 model only because its newer but if the experts here say that there's no significant diff with the 2000 as far as performance and reliability is concerned then ill save myself 10K and get the 2000 whose color yellow i like better.

btw, the car will not see a racetrack and will be used for leisurely weekend drives into the countryside. (i actually prefer the regular boxster but none is available locally)

It would be a tough choice. Are there features one either one that you just have to have? If not, there's very little difference between a 2000 S and and a 2002 S. Saving that much money would likely cause me to go for the 2000 and set aside the difference as a potential maintenance fund .

If you haven't done so already you might want to check out the article on Buying a Used Boxster.

BTW - We've got another member that's located in Manilla as well. You might want to drop him a PM as he may be able to provide some additional insight .
