SF Bay Rec for Hardtop Painting

I finally found a hardtop locally in an off color. After pouring through the archives here and at various other sites, it looks like the top needs to be disassembled to be painted properly. I'm looking for recommendations of shops familiar with painting and matching Boxster hardtops. Thanks.

Hanson, one thing to do is to check with a couple of the local dealers to see who they use for body & paint work.

Dealer Recommendations

I recently had need of body work on my boxster and asked Claridge's in Fremont their recommendation. It was EMC. I checked on this board's recommendations and decided against using EMC. I've also had some work done by them in the past (2 years ago), and the work was not as good as I had expected. I didn't post a recommendation on this board because of all the negative for EMC already there!

San Francisco

I'll recommend Kevin or Larry at Chow's Automotive on 7th and Harrison in San Francisco. They do very quality work and treat you like a friend. I had my car worked on there and I have no complaints. Kevin used to have a fixed up Boxster, so he'll know the car pretty well.

oldskuracer, I see in one of your older posts you were planning to get your hardtop painted by Chow's. How did this turn out? Thanks.

I'm still looking for a frontend for my car, so I haven't painted the hard top yet. I have pictures of my BMW Roadster if you're interested.

They paint the outside and inside, not just the top. The color match and blend was good and you couldn't tell that the car was repainted.

This picture was taken of my car about 2 months after the work was done.
