I would say it's running just fine after last weekends Voxster run.

I would hope so. When he brought his car over it had a lot of smoke at startup. We replaced the AOS that day but still had a lot of smoke when he started it. I'm sure it was residue so I'm wondering if that ever cleared up. We also changed his plugs and they were not tight when I removed them. Whoever installed it previously tightened them only hand tight.

Hey cas951,

My car is running great. It was running a little hot today (needle almost past the 0 in 180 vs normal: between 8 and 0 just starting to overlap 0), but I think the stop and go traffic through the SF hilly streets combined with todays hot weather was to blame. That said I forgot to go get my coolant cap replaced after our long day of work at your place. I REALLY need to do that this weekend.

I have noticed a bit of smoke sometimes at startup still which I believe is the "normal for flat 6 engine" smoke everyone talks about. It lasts 10-20 seconds max. Definitely different from before replacing the AOS. I still need to clean out the throttle body. Might do that this weekend along with washing/waxing my filthy car. X)

Those new, tightened spark plugs really made a different on performance at low RPM. I'll let you know how my fuel economy is now that those were swapped in. I have barely gone through one tank of gas since then.

One last note regarding oil... I ended up putting 9 quarts in total. With 8.75 if the car was cold then the digital indicator displayed bellow lowest limit. Hot it was about 3 bars from the bottom. I just added the last .25 quarts while driving around today. Now with the engine hot the gauge is reading two or three tick marks below max. I think that should be just about right.

If my car keeps running hotter I may have to look into Pedro's third radiator mod or the LN Engineering thermostat.

You might also look into cleaning out the radiators as a lot of stuff can collect in there.
