Tool Pants (Jeff), Pls... help with Spin Locks Install...

Jeff,

I could really use your help with installing the SpinLocks in the car for the Speedster humps... I have no idea how we can remove the door trims to install the spinlocks... Please help me out. I just called my local dealer again (Barrier Motors in Bellevue, WA), and they wanted to charge me $275 + tax for the labor... that is too much $$$$ Besides the earliest appt is at least 1 month... By that time, summer will be almost over...

Please help me out, I'd really appreciate it, thank you very much!

Pic of the guide inserts and allen bolts

Must be a sale on humps, as I have received several emails recently on how to install the inserts for the pivot locks (aka spin locks)

Here is my bad pic of the left and right insert, and the 2 allen pinch bolts.

If you do not have these in your car, then you have a plastic plug where the insert goes.

Sorry it did not come out clear. It says to reinstall the left and right carpeted trim covers that hide the seat belts. Would have been nice if it told you how to remove the trim covers.

Re: Page 2 of the TSB

When you do the rear speaker install the factory way you have to remove the right trim cover for the seat belt to run the speaker wires. Same trim panel you remove for the insert install, except you do both sides

I have never been able to get a good picture of the 8mm bolt that holds the top of the trim panel.
Here is a pic of it on the Pelican site. It is brass colored. You loosen it, not remove it. It is hard to see and get to it. Get out a very good light. You can feel it with your fingers. Then you remove the lower phillips sheet metal screws.

Here is a link to the Pelican site for the rear speaker install. You are interested in pic 18.

Remove both trim covers, tap the inserts in, put in the allen pinch bolts, and tighten with a 5mm allen bit to 17 foot pounds.

Good luck Hendry, and let us know how it went.

Jeff

Got them all printed... will try it out tomorrow morning...

Thanks very much, Jeff! I sure hope I can do it, that'll save me about $300 (including the tax the dealer will charge me)...

I'll let you know how it goes...

thanks again,
Hendry
