News: 2004 Boxster Clubsport, 2005 Boxster Coupe
See this Autoweek report...
PORSCHE Boxster: The 2003 Boxster and Boxster S receive a freshening. A redesigned Boxster is planned for 2004. The interior will be roomier, and the exterior styling will further differentiate the Boxster from the 911. The Boxster Clubsport, a low-volume, lightweight, high-performance Boxster, is planned for spring 2004. "Clubsport" is expected to be the name given to several high-performance Porsches. A Boxster coupe will arrive in spring 2005. 911: The 911 Turbo convertible will be added in February 2003 followed in April 2003 with the 911 GT3. Carrera GT: Porsche's $350,000-plus sports car will debut in June 2003. The Carrera GT will have a 6.0-liter, V-10 engine that produces 558 hp and 330 pounds-feet of torque. The hand-built Carrera GT features a carbon chassis and body, and ceramic brakes. A top speed of 205 mph is promised. Porsche will build only 1,000 units during the car's lifetime. Assembly is slated at the automaker's new plant in Leipzig, Germany. E2: Porsche is expected to expand its vehicle range with the addition of a large GT coupe that will share the Cayenne's drivetrain. E2 is the program's code name. Still to be decided is whether the car will be a 2+2 or a coupe with ample seating for four. Production is expected to begin in 2006 at Leipzig. The Cayenne, Porsche's first sport wagon, goes on sale early next year. Cayenne: U.S. sales of Porsche's first awd sport wagon will begin in early 2003. Two versions will be introduced: An S version with a 340-hp 4.5-liter V-8 and a turbo version with a 450-hp 4.5-liter V-8. Porsche promises a top speed of 165 mph for the turbo model. The high-horsepower Clubsport will be produced in 2005 or 2006. That model is expected to have a 600-hp 5.5-liter twin-turbo V-8 with a price about $100,000. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Autoweek Article |

Magic Mtn Dan: You Won, I Lost
They ended up doing a TT 996 Cab rather than Boxster TT... I guess they get higher profit margin with the 996 TT Cab.

Forget 2004!!! I'm going to...
make my own lightweight Boxster by stripping out useless stuff on my car to make it lighter. Who needs a CD changer, radio, subwoofer and fancy carpet lined trunks, and those heavy cup holder things! To hell with seats, I'll use crates! Oh yeah, I don't own it yet
