Window Tint

Anyone had any problems with having their windows tinted? Having mine done today to beat the 100+ degree Oklahoma summer heat, and thought I'd check with the experts to pick up any additional tips that I should be aware of. Thanks guys!! (and gals!)

has anyone gone darker than #35 Smoke? I think that's the darkest legal tint, but I'd like to go a little darker..."Come to the dark side, Luke..."

I understand why cops hate it. Extreme heat states like Florida or New mexico seem more flexible.

Here in NC non-factory tints require tint tests with the annual state inspection. And you get to pay more for it.

yeah, i agree. cops rightly hate the dark tint. it makes them very insecure. i stayed legal, since i figured i would attract enough attention without going out of my way. i think it looks great, helps with the heat, and won't get me pulled over just for the tint.

I assume you only did the sides? The back is still clear right?

actually, i did the back window too. on a 987 the rear window is glass. not sure how it would work on a 986. i considered doing the windscreen also, but decided not to do it. i just put the porsche logo and name on the windscreen.

yeah I didn't think about that. Wish mine had the glass. Guess I'll go without. Kinda pointless to only do the sides if you ask me.

Decided to go with the 15 smoke, nice and dark but not "limo black". My rear window is plastic, so I left it clear, but then, I never feel direct sunlight thru the rear window...SO much cooler with the tint, and since it's 106 today and 107 tomorrow, I'm glad I had it done last week!!
