Mt. Diablo drive today

Today's pics are the drive Kevin and I had to the top of the Mt Diablo. Photos are a bit smoggy and not clear. Great views, you can see the ocean and Golden Gate Bridge in the distance. Driving up the mountain and downhill was a great road to drive on.
Briefly..............
We started the day from the San Francisco Ferry Bldg, picked up some Acme Bread (cranberry walnut) some CowGirl Creamery - Triple Brie, some Fruit and mixed Italian Olives. Parking is across from the Farmers Market (Ferry Bldg) on Howard and Stuart. Went over the Bay Bridge, took Hwy 24 to Walnut Creek, exited off Ygancio Valley Road and turn right on Walnut Avenue (not Walnut Blvd). You come to a round about turn and make a left on Northgate Road towards the northgate entrance to Mt. Diablo Park. Great views. Lots of picnic tables along the way. We forgot to take pictures of the road going up and downhill. I recommend the drive if you haven't done this before.
Happy driving!

We are doing a quick drive in the morning to Napa Valley, we are planning on heading to the Copola winery and taking some pictures or our cars. and maybe some other place in the area (any suggestions??) we are talking my 986s, amg c43, maybe a 99 986 and maybe my bro's 330i sedan. Not really wine tasting or a spirited drive, just wanna take some good pix of our cars and playing with my new Canon DSLR. We plan on leaving Vallejo about 7:30 am and wrapping it up by 11 or so... if anyone happens to be out that way your welcome to join us : )

Hi, Boxs2000. Napa may be overrun, but surely you will be tasting some wine while out there.

Have a good trip, whatever you do!

That's great, dedes. Thanks for the drive report and route suggestion.

My drive today was not as dramatic, but it was fun on this most beautiful of California winter's days. I picked up my cousin in San Francisco and drove us to Pacifica for breakfast overlooking the coast. Then I let him drive on the PCH for a while; his first time driving a Porsche. He was thrilled, of course, but it was a bit harrowing for me.

Rubicon Estate,Coppola Winery in Rutherford is great! Continue to another place Auberge du Soleil (Rutherford) Napa for lunch or just a cold drink, great views off the deck area and beautiful grounds.

website:http://www.aubergedusoleil.com/html/dining.shtml

Right Up the road (right next door)from Auberge du Soleil is another winery, Rutherford Winery. Many many more in the area. You will have a great time!! Can't make it this time, thanks for the invite.

Snaxster.....sounds like we all had a good day!

Yes, it sure was a fantastic California Winter/Spring like day. Try that Mt Diablo drive sometime, you will love the road. Maybe you should drive though!! And let your cousin be the passenger. The road up Mt Diablo has lots of turns that a Porsche can handle quite well. Just watch out for the people on their bikes.

The country out there is really great.

Have a good week-end!

Thanks, dedes. Mt. Diablo has been recommended to me by other enthusiasts. I admit to being concerned about mixing it up with cyclists. As for my cousin, I predict that the next Porsche he drives will be his own (in any case, it won't be mine!)

A good weekend to you, too!
