Here's a question I'll bet nobody ever asked before
So I'm going to order a Boxster this week, and I have some questions about a couple of the options. Totally new topic on this board, I know.
The "Special Chassis Rigidly Tuned" option: how rigidly tuned does that make the chassis? I have to believe that the factory Boxster isn't sprung like a '57 Chevy. Is this something you'll feel in everyday driving or is it only noticible on the track. The Sport/Regular Exhaust option: does this do anything, or is it just a vanity switch you can play with in the cockpit? Where does the trip computer display its information? Will it work with an aftermarket stereo/nav system, or will it need to be removed to make room? I assume that none of the aftermarket systems will work to display miles remaining in the tank--correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks. /Ronnie [email protected] (I don't know why it's being kept private by the system) |

Trip computer info . . .
Cars order with the On Board Computer (OBC) have a dot matrix display under the speedometer. You can see some of the information available by downloading the owners manual from the Suncoast Porsche site ( you want Controls and Instruments, http://www.suncoastporsche.com/manuals/2003/boxster/11-136.pdf ). It's also possible to do an OBC hack to get at the basic information with the standard display. (i.e., the computer is always there).
The '03 cars use a new fiberoptic bus, MOST, which in theory could allow third-parties to display information on the console, but no third-party products are available that work with the '03 (regardless of dash display) -- including audio-in/XM satellelite/MP3 players |

The suspension is the USA or M030. The car
was made with ROW030 (Rest Of World). The theory is that they
had to slightly raise the car for US standards. I have the M030 on my 2001S. I've heard the std syspension is too soft. If you are going to get the std suspension and later convert, then the cost is approx 1K for parts and 1K to install. The difference is in the struts/shocks and springs. I've also heard the sports exhaust option for 2003 is pretty good. The OBC is a pretty easy hack and has been done for all model years including 2003. It costs approx $150 for the kit. As answered earlier, it does display under the center display. It has 5 or 6 functions including the miles left on gas remaining. The hack is just to turn on the computer that is present in every Boxster, and add the 4th stalk to the steering wheel. |

M030 vs standard
M030 outperforms standard suspension in reducing body sway and improved road holding.
On any halfway decent road the M030(factory rigidly tuned) is preferable if you like handling. If you are even considering it you probably want it. On really bad roads, reportedly mostly in the east, the extra stiffness of M030 combined with 18-inch wheels can be annoying. I have experienced this on the heavily patched, cracked and potholed sidestreets of Los Angeles. It feels like you are driving on cold, flat spotted tires. Since I live in Arizona, I bought the M030 and 18s because we have really well maintained streets and highways. From my experience of the bay area(30 years), unless you live on a patched street with weeds growing in the cracks, you probably will be fine with M030. |

I buy a lot of stuff online, and now I know which website is best for getting good-quality products. The 메이저사이트 site provides excellent service, and the quality of their product is fantastic, as well.
