Rear bearings problem

My 2000 986s with 34k is in the shop getting the rear bearings replaced. I thing they have been bad for a while (about the last 3k). Would this lead to other problems of which I should be aware? Should they pay for tire balancing and an alignment? It had a strong vibration and loud rear end noise when I brought it in and heard a metallic sound about 1k ago. Thanks!
