Used Boxster Buying Tips

I am in the market for a used 2001-2001 Boxster (not S). I came across this site during my searching. I was hoping that your group could give me some tips on what to look for, what to ask the owner etc when purchasing a Boxster. I currently do not have any clue of what to ask and I really want to look like I know what I am talking about when I am talking to these sellers. Thank you for any help.

Re: Used Boxster Buying Tips

Start with all the basics you wold want to know about with any car... damage history, in-town vs freeway miles, why are they selling, are they original owner, etc. Get a good prepurchase inspection. Tell us where you're located and we maybe able to recommend someone for the ppi.

Specific to Boxsters, get a list of options and figure out what they are and what their value is to you. Inspect the condition of the top and rear window. When was the last alignment? These cars are prone to vibration with slight misalignment.

Re: Used Boxster Buying Tips

You may want consider CarMax. Even though I didn't purchase my Boxster from them, I highly recommend them. They offer a 5 day money back guarantee (basically, you get a 5 day test drive without milage restrictions). They also have a 30-day parts/labor warranty for any necessary repairs. You can also buy their extended warranty to cover beyond the 30 days. Usually their prices are haggle free and pretty competitive. I was eyeing a 2000 Boxster 6K with some awesome options in the summer - price $32,558. Even if you don't buy this route, at least you can test drive one. By the way, I would consider an S model which is what I ended up buying.
