That tooootally sucks, dude. There's quite a lot of discussion on this topic in the archives on PPBB.com. Seems like there's been a few people who have been having catastrophic engine failures recently.

Check there and you'll have lots of ideas on how to approach the problem with Porsche in whatever country you're in.

Louis, That is a major bummer! How long have your owned your Box? Did you buy it new? Did the car give you any warning or indication of such a pending failure?

Good luck and hang in there!

The best is if you do some searches on this forum and 986forum.
But in summary it seems to fall like this:
If you're still covered by the Porsche warranty you got lucky, otherwise you're s### out of luck

unbelievable!!

I lost my engine last week with 33k!

I am going back to Porsche of America again this morning but it looks pretty bleak.

Someone must have looked into a class action suit by now. If anyone knows of an effort like this I would like to hear about it. Everyone that hears this story is outraged!

What year is your car? Base or S? Manual or Tip?

Hearing about these engine failures is depressing.

Just curious if your car was made in Germany or Finland?

doesn't matter Clemson, all the motors come from the same factory.
my '99 was built in Finland and it ran great the entire time I had it, including lots of Axing and some limited track duty.

Finland was just an assembly plant, most all the pieces came from the same facilities no matter where it was assembled.
