Headrest Windscreen Grill, replacement source?

Hi all,

Recent boxster owner and loving it. Been reading the forums for a few months now and havent found much reason to chime in yet since A: i'm still learning the car and B: been able to find answers by digging thru the forums.

Trying to source a new drivers headrest windscreen (the plastic grill behind the seat) Mustve come loose after being at the mechanics and fell off. Anyway, checked ebay but havent had much luck.

thinking I might be stuck ordering from dealer, but any tips on sourcing a cheaper replacement would be much appreciated. For an 02 S.

suncoast is a reasonable place to search for such things. don't know what the dealer would cost but here's a link to a quick search i did.

I would suggest posting on racing sites. You know if it doesn't make the car go faster they take it off! That's how I got mine

Or wrecking yards part out Boxsters. I know my first Boxster had 2 headrest wind-screens still on when it went there.

Suggest putting a black plastic cable tie loosely through the bottom of the screen and around the roll bar; you will never “lose” another of theses expensive screens again………..

I agree. I did mine that way and you can hardly see the tie. Makes me feel "safer".

I need the drivers side too! Mine wizzed off on the highway and I had just bought all of the set up recently on ebay...was much cheaper together than just one.

My boxster didn't come with the headrest windstops. So when I couldn’t find a set... I saw one windstop available $40 cheaper than from the dealer. I figured I could purchased another one cheaper than buying the pair from the dealer. So while finding the first windstop was easy. Finding the mate was much harder. In the end I untilmately found a pair from a guy with a spec boxster. Problem solved. As it turns out, I thought I had purchased the passenger side. Instead, I purchased the driver’s side. I paid $85 plus shipping. It is in good shape so send me a PM if you are interested.

My recommendation is to see if you can’t find a pair. While I thought I paid a fair price for the one, I only paid ~ 50% more for a pair.

Just replaced both of mine from a salvage yard. I have an extra one but am not home to see what side it is from. If it is the drivers side, will get back to you on Saturday if you still need one.
