RobynC - XM Stereo Question

RobynC, I know you have gotten the new XM stereo unit in
your car. I was thinking of upgrading my system, but
did wonder if there is a monthly subscription to XM
stereo. I looked up the Alpine web site and see that there
is a fee. I cannot find the XM stereo web site to see what
is involved/cost of having XM stereo. Can you clue me in.
I don't want to get it to finf there is a large monthly
fee.

Re: RobynC - XM Stereo Question

From the XM web site
After you install XM equipment in your car, you'll need to activate service. Activating your new XM Radio is easy. You can activate on the XM web site for $9.99, or over the phone for $14.99.

THX Tom, The Answer Is $9.99/Mo

I don't think I want to pay a monthly fee for radio. I might
just get the Apline reciver and have the option of getting
the XM module. Not Sure yet.

RobynC what xm receiver did you get?

Robyn, I thought you had an eclipse head unit. Did you add a xm receiver to it? which one? Did Leo do it? I need to go back to Leo to have a few things taken care of on my system.

I've changed out the head unit...

To this terrific Alpine that supports XM. CDA 7893. I'm VERY pleased with this unit, in fact, moreso than I was with the Eclipse. The fuctions, the wider ranger of sound, as well as it being more powerful. And of course, the XM works terrific. And yes, Leo did the work.

Re: I've changed out the head unit...

Thanks for the info. I just talked to Leo. I am going over to his shop on Tuesday so he can swap out the Eclipse for the Alpine. Where did he mount your antenna? I will post my impression when I get it installed.

Re: I've changed out the head unit...

The antenna is beneath the front lid...Leo was very creative in it's placement and I have no reception issues. Love it.

Good luck, looking forward to hearing your thoughts on this new deck.

My Appointment is for Monday at

Monney Audio. I plan on doing a major upgrade. Here is the
list....

1: Up-Grade Speakers - Std Pkg Everyone is doing
2: Add Subwoffer - Leo says he uas a newer larger box.
3: New Amplifiers
4: Add Alpine GPS Unit (pop-up screen) with CD as head

unit.
5: Alpine GPS Navagation system unit.
6: Maybe XM stereo - maybe

Yes it will be expensive, but with the pop up screen
it shouldn't look intrusive to the interior. Anyway, I
expect to use it alot for driving around new places.
Anyway, I cannot wait until tomorrow.
