I am not a mech either. Water pump issue is there for EVERY car (not just Porsche) 5 years or older. It will happen some time so just replace it and enjoy the ride. As to leaks, you might have read about IMS and RMS issues. Dig out old threads and you will find plenty of info. Basically it's common and not a big issue if it doesn't leave a big oil puddle on your garage ground.

I'd make sure to put the top in service position and check the drip pans for tares and damage from when the plastic cups may have been broken previously. I have seen a couple where when these white plastic cups were replaced (at a Porsche dealership btw) they did not repair the drip pans.

How do you put the top in service position? Is this a hard thing to do? Jeanne T

Just open the top about 4 inches. To access the engine there are a series of clips that must be undone. I think RennTech and/or Pelican has visuals.
