burnt oil smell

After driving for any period of time in my '03, when I stop and get out of the car, there is a slight burnt oil smell. I have already had an RMS replaced as well as a leaking valve gasket repaired. My car has 4100 miles on it and has not leaked on the garage floor since the RMS was replaced approximatley 1000 miles ago. Anyone else experience that?

Re: burnt oil smell

Never had a burning oil smell in my 2001S.
More info needed. Where abouts do you smell
it coming from, What oil are you using, does
the oil gauge show you are using oil, etc?
They all burn some oil and is not unusal
to need to put in 1/2 qt after doing a long
drive, say a couple thousands miles.

Re: burnt oil smell

My guess is that your valve cover is leaking oil again. I had a burned oil smell on my 2001 but never saw any oil on the garage floor. Just a small amount of oil was leaking and this was being vaporized.

Re: burnt oil smell

You might be right that it is only a little bit and it is vaporizing. Everything else is stock. Oil is whatever the dealerships puts in whcih I believe is synthetic Mobil 1. The oil level is fine, and I do not see any drips on the floor.
