Race Against ALMS Pros in Karts in Santa Clara!

For Immediate Release:

August 24, 2001 (Santa Clara, CA.)

Come out and race against some of the best from the American Le Mans Series,
no prior racing experience necessary.

SpeedRing™ Indoor Kart Racing (of Santa Clara, CA) to Host Professional Race
Car Drivers at Two Special Events on September 5, 2001 (5 PM to 8 PM)

Local race car driver Robert Orcutt of Scotts Valley, CA. and competitor in
the American Lemans Series will be joining in with other professional
drivers
of the American Lemans Series and Speedvision World Challenge Series at
SpeedRing Indoor Kart Racing on Wednesday, September 5, 2001. Following the
ALMS promotional event in downtown San Jose at Cesar Chavez Park that
afternoon (11 AM-1 PM), the professional drivers and their teams (who
compete
in the International race series) will come to SpeedRing Indoor Kart Racing
for two great events that evening. The first event is the "Media
Challenge",
which will pit the members of the Press in a challenge match-race against
the
professional sports car drivers of the ALMS series and Speedvision World
Challenge series to see what is mightier on SpeedRing's ¼ mile, 7 turn
course, "the Pen or the Pro". This special action runs from 5:00 PM to 6:00
PM. Following this event will be the "Fan Challenge for Charity" from 6:00
PM to 8:00 PM. Race Fans will be able to race against their heroes of the
Track, for the benefit of charity. The fans will make contributions as race
entry fees with the proceeds going to charities of the organizers of the
American Lemans Series.

SpeedRing is located at 2900 Mead Ave. Santa Clara, CA (408) 567-9952. All
required racing gear is provided on site, come on out and support the many
worthwhile charities! Here's your chance to race against the Pros!

In the afternoon... around Fairmont Hotel.
