BOSE radio - OK, CD crackly

Hi All,

I've just purchased a Boxster S and until this morning was really happy with it! I tested the Bose radio and NAV before buying and other than the Nav being a bit reluctant to read the cd it all worked fine. With the radio on you can crank the stereo right up and it sounds great.

I put a cd in this morning and it sounds awful! I've tried several cds and they all sound like every speaker in the system is blown. Back to radio and all is well!

Does anyone know of any faults that could cause this? I'm annoyed that I didn;t test the cd out, but as the radio worked I didn;t think the speaker would distort through the cd player.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks

Dirty laser lens?

I sometimes get this problem with my other car CD player, and it's often caused by dirty CD laser lens. Dirt and dust sometimes get into your player and ended up coating your laser lens. I bought a CD player cleaner disk from the local video/audio specialist, and this solved the problem everytime (I also use it to clean my home theater CD/DVD player). Just have to clean every half a year or so to make sure things are in top shape.

Not sure if this is the exact solution for you, but give it a try.

Good idea - brought a cleaner but no joy. My dad's bringing his "head" cleaner over tomorrow so maybe that's something different and worth a try.

I've never had this problem with any cd player but I'll be chuffed if this is all it is. I have the BOSE upgrade and the NAV so will be taken to the cleaners if it needs replacing.

Thanks,
