got a 2000 2.7 and have wanted to change the exhaust, so bought an exhaust as thought all 2.7 and 3.2 were interchangable?.
Havent got any photos but exhaust i've bought is from a boxster S with twin exhaust tips that are at a 45degree angle cut, with vertical screw tops on the top of the exhaust. For a 2000 does it have to have screws that go sideways and bolt into the bracket towards the cats? or is ths one going to be ok, and will it fit etc. Please let me out of my misery before i take the whole exhaust off and find ts the wrong one, and have to put it all back together. Cheers Mark |

Not sure if this helps. Here's a photo of the exhaust removed from my 2000 Boxster S. The bolts on top are vertical.

all 986 2.7L and 3.2L mount exactly the same way....2 studs on top of muffler are vertical...
2.5L mount differently....2 mounting studs are on an L bracket and the studs are horizontal....'97-99 use this type only but there is an adapter bracket available to make a later 2.7 & 3.2 muffler work on an early car. I have installed both types of mufflers on an early and later 986. the pic above is for y2k and new 986s both 2.7 and 3.2 models....it can be adapted to work on older 986s hope that helps
