Hello, new Boxster owner...big problem :-(

Hi Guys,

Just got myself my first Porsche, a 01 boxster.

Lovely in blue.

It has developed a problem. When cold the car starts first thing, however when warm, starting the car is a problem in that it will turn over for a few seconds then cut out?

If I leave it a few minutes it will start for about ten seconds then die.

If I keep the revs up and drive it will stay alive.

What could my problem be?

Paul

sounds at first like a fuel problem as in fuel pump but then it wouldn't run at higher rpm's so I have deducted that it is an ignition problem or contaminated fuel.

Someone has suggested the crankshaft sensor? Does this sound about right?

Does it seem to be running rich when it cuts out?
Might be a MAP sensor or Oxygen sensor? Run it by a shop and see it any codes are coming up.
