16 inch wheels for auto cross

Have a 98 boxster I want to start auto crossing. Swapped the stock 16s for 18s but have the stock 16 sitting in my garage. Is there any advantage to running the stock 16 for autox. Any boxster autox advice would be appreciated.

16s are lighter, therefore less unsprung weight, and you have a slightly smaller rolling diameter, so you get a gearing advantage for AX.
your challenge will be finding tires for the 16s, but they are out there.
Depending on what 18s you have, some are very heavy.
the optimum tire/wheel for the non S models is the stock 17s.
