Starter relay location: 2001 Boxster???
Changed the battery and now she wont start... maybe the starter relay??? any thougts?
The car was starting but it sounded like the battery was on its way out. I bought a new Bosch battery and put it in... now all the lights come on when you put the key in but nothing happens when you turn it to the start position. It is a tiptronic... and everything else works but she wont start??? Tried putting the old battery in and get the same result. Any thoughts??? Hello to all and thank you =) |

Assuming you didn't have the key in the ignition when you replaced the battery, the starter is located at the top of the engine under the throttle body. If you did have the key in the ignition then you might try the 2nd one and see if it works.

Thank you!
Thanks Tom,
The key was not in the ignition when the battery was changed. Just curious though... why would that matter? And is the relay located by the starter? Or is it somewhere else? Thanks again!!! |

The starter solenoid is located with the starter and access requires removal of the throttle body. However the starter relay is in position 7 (lower left) of relay panel 2, which has 12 similarly sized positions and is located in the rear trunk.

rumandcoke1, are you sure the car is not just in disabled mode, similar to what happens if you leave the key in the ignition and after "n" minutes it disables the starter. To re-enable, you have to push the lock button with the key in the ignition to reset it. At least that's what I think I remember reading and have done in the past to get the car to start. Might be worth a try.
