Odometer not lighting up

My 99 Boxster's odometer went dark, no lit numbers. All othr lights in dash work. I removed the instruent cluster and replaced what I thought was the bulb for the odometer. Still dark! Are the Odometer oragne numbers lit with a bulb? is it one that can be replaced without taking the back of the cluster off The bulb I replaced was beige and in the area of the Odometer. The odometer is still adding mileage,I can just see it in the right light. Thanks

I think you need to take the whole instrument cluster out to replace any bulbs in the cluster (Do a search here and on other forums and you'll find enough DIY instructions)

You're speaking about just the LCD portion, correct?

You might try swapping two similar bulbs to see if maybe the housing is bad.

It is just the LED portion, I will try another known good bulb and test before reinstalling. I love the engineering of the connectors, very nicely thought out! Thanks for the link that's great!
